“Sunshine has operated in excess of 10+ years, and continues to do so with zero environmental incidents, citations, or violations.”
~ Marybeth Gust, Environmental Supervisor
Environmental Efforts
In recent years, Sunshine has focused on enhancing water management and is actively involved in restoration projects both at the mine complex and in the surrounding areas. The management team at Sunshine has partnered with the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service to improve habitats for mammals and bats, campground clean-ups, and debris removal from streams.
Additionally, Sunshine collaborates closely with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe Restoration Partnership on initiatives to restore Big Creek (a tributary of the South Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River) by removing abandoned water intake dams and structures. These activities, once completed, will restore 10+ miles of additional spawning ground for native Westslope cutthroat trout.
Sunshine is committed to adopting sustainable practices and surpassing environmental standards to protect the environment for future generations. This commitment is demonstrated not through words, but through actions and measurable results. Every Sunshine employee shares a unified dedication to achieving the key environmental goals: zero spills, zero releases, and zero adverse impacts.
