Since acquiring the mine in 2010, SSMRC has made substantial investments to modernize core operations and upgrade the entire facility to meet contemporary standards. Key improvements include enhancing the power supply and grid, upgrading four water pumping stations, and modernizing 13,000-volt electrical substations. Additionally, extensive work has been done on hoist rooms and miles of rail, air, water, electrical, and communication systems to ensure the mine remains in a constant state of readiness.

Operational Efficiency
Sunshine Mine benefits from significant infrastructure in place, enabling low-cost development and production. This includes low-cost renewable energy, substantial existing underground development, close proximity to existing rail, roads, and airports, well-established relationships with a network of local mine suppliers and fabricators, and a highly skilled underground mining workforce in the local area.
SSMRC has taken a significant step towards ensuring uninterrupted operations and long-term sustainability. By investing in state-of-the-art backup power generation, reconfiguring the electrical grid, and maintaining ample equipment inventories, the mine has become a leader in the district for reliability and efficiency.
The implementation of modern technology, including advanced hoisting systems, compressed air infrastructure, and underground communication networks, further positions Sunshine Mine as a cutting-edge mining operation.
